The IKEA Effect

The IKEA Effect suggests that people will place a higher value on products they have partially created - just like the furniture you buy from IKEA. You buy it, take it home and assemble it. The IKEA Effect suggests that you will take more pride in this piece of furniture than in an already assembled piece.

LEGO is also a great examples of this. Consumers buy a product in order to make the product that they actually want.

At Woolston Web Design, we agree with this way of thinking.

We will not go ahead and create a product that we think you want. We will talk to you and find out exactly what you want. We want to learn about your business and how the site can help you. We want you to be more productive or attract more customers. We pride ourselves on giving you the most amount of value. Whether we design and build a new website, we are in it to give you the best outcome.

We don't use commercially available templates, but instead we build the product to your requirements. While off-the-shelf templates may get the product finished sooner, you have less involvement in the process. And there is less flexibility in how the finished product will look and function. This means you may not get the results that are specific to your business, AND the IKEA Effect. You were not involved in the design process, so it's just a website. We want you to be enthusiastic about your new website.

Let us help you with your website or app. We have years of industry experience to draw from and we can give you the advice you need in order to get the best result.
