Say Goodbye To Yahoo!

Yahoo! has long been a giant within Internet circles. Back in the 1990's, Yahoo was the preferred search engine of choice before Google and Bing. It was once worth $125 billion but it has come time for one of the early internet pioneers to say goodbye.

The majority of Yahoo! has been sold to US telco Verizon for $4.8 billion. The remainder of the company will change its name to Altaba. Apparently, the name is a combination of the words "alternative" and "Alibaba".

As we know, Yahoo! have had some problems lately. They are continuing to face legal battles for failing to secure their user account information. Yahoo! have said that the breaches have had little effect on their customer base, but I know that I have not used their services since I heard about the security concerns.

I doubt this will affect the internet in general but we will watch what happens with Altaba in the future.
